Regulations of the Docudays UA Film Club
If you are passionate about documentary films, relish in discussing them, and appreciate comprehending and rethinking reality through these discussions, we invite you to become part of the DOCU/CLUB Network, which now spans the entire country. Join us in connecting with like-minded individuals who share your love for documentary cinema.
You can become a member of the DOCU/CLUB Network by opening a Docudays UA film club at your organization or institution. Please read the following rules that govern all our film clubs.
Our goal is to provide legal education and ensure free access for Ukrainian citizens to the best documentary films from around the world. Through films and discussions, we disseminate knowledge about human rights and methods of their protection, foster an understanding of human dignity as the highest value in Ukrainian society, and promote civic activism.
The Docudays UA film club network is a non-profit, non-political, and non-religious project. The Docudays UA film clubs operate at schools, universities, libraries, art spaces, galleries, youth, human rights and charitable organizations, probation centers, correctional facilities, and educational institutions of the penitentiary system.
Every year, the DOCU/CLUB Network's collection is enriched with documentaries from the media library of the Docudays UA International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival, including the winners of the Sundance Film Festival, Sheffield Doc/Fest, Watch Docs and other prestigious festivals. The films are translated and dubbed into Ukrainian.
Each film has a corresponding license (Rights Transfer Agreement or License Agreement) for screening. Film clubs receive free access to these films. Each screening is accompanied by educational and human rights awareness events, including discussions, meetings with the filmmakers and protagonists, as well as experts and human rights activists.
To create a Docudays UA film club, you need to:
-
Carefully read the Regulations on the creation and activities of Docudays UA film clubs.
-
Submit an application for the registration of a film club.
-
Complete the online course “How to Organize a Film Club: A Basic Course for Beginner Moderators” and receive a certificate of its successful completion.
-
Upon approval of the application, sign the necessary documents to formalize the relationship between the NGO Docudays and the applicant organization.
A film club can be opened by an organization, regardless of its type of ownership, that has the equipment to organize and conduct screenings and accompanying discussions. If online events are planned, the organization must have the appropriate equipment; for offline events, adequate premises are required.
The moderator of a film club can be an individual who is willing to participate in trainings, seminars, and other educational programs organized by the Docudays UA team. These programs aim to develop skills in working with documentary films, human rights, and civic activism.
