“Our Bread” is a documentary film about bread as a symbol of memory, tradition, and cultural identity among the peoples of Ukraine. Through the stories of Crimean Tatar komech, Azov Greek psatyr, Jewish challah, and Bulgarian Christmas korovai, the protagonists share family recipes, rituals, faith, and traditions passed down through generations. The film shows how different communities preserve their culture, memory, and connection to their homeland through bread.
“Our Bread” is about more than food. It is a film about cultural roots that continue to grow even through the cracks of history. About spirituality that lives within the family. And about a connection to one’s homeland that endures as long as bread is being baked at home.
