This film is literally a drama about life and death. For two years, the Belgian director Jérôme le Maire followed the members of a surgical unit in one of the biggest hospitals in Paris. Constantly under severe stress, understaffed and subject to severe budget cuts, the employees fight each other for resources. Meanwhile the management imposes ever more stringent efficiency and profitability targets.

Jérôme Le Maire

Jérôme Le Maire is a director and writer, known for The Big Trip (2013) and Where Is Love In The Palm Grove? (2007). After studying journalism at the University of Brussels and then filmmaking at IAD in Belgium, Jerome directed several short fiction films after graduating in 1995. In 2012, Jerome directed Tea Or Electricity, a feature documentary that has won about thirty awards. In 2013, Jerome directed a feature narrative film The Big Trip. This film won the award for Best Film at the famous Festival du film Grolandais (France), and was selected for screening at several biggest international film festivals.
